Join Scouting in Pack 991
Our mission is to provide neighborhood boys grades 1st-5th with opportunities for fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. We are a family-centered program and welcome parents and siblings to join at events.
Our particular pack currently has about 45 boys in it, which is divided into grade-level dens of 5-10 boys. Once a den gets too large, we create a second den and group boys based on schools.
The pack meets once a month, on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Elk’s Lodge. The next pack meeting will be recruiting night on Sept. 15th, 6:30p
Dens meet once a month, based on member schedules and location will vary based on rank activities (“go sees”, hikes, workshops, etc.).
And once a month, there is an optional “pack-tivity“.
Previous “pack-tivities” have included:
- Camping: Cub-on, Webelos extreme, Angel Island, Huddart Park.
- Sleepovers: Academy of Sciences, SF Zoo, USS Hornet, Chabot Observatory.
- Service Projects: Feed the Vets, Scouting for Food, City Trees, One Warm Coat, Toys for Tots, Beach Clean-up, Memorial Day Flags.
- Other Activities: Pinewood Derby, Space Derby, Raingutter Regata, Water Rockets, July 4th Parade, Popcorn Fund Raiser.
All of our “pack-tivities” and rank activities have elements of the 12 core themes of scouting; honesty, cooperation, responsibility, citizenship, respect, positive attitude, resourcefulness, compassion, faith, health and fitness, perseverance, and courage.
We will have a recruiting night on Sept. 15th 2016, where you can receive an on-boarding packet, meet our den leaders, register your son, and participate in a presentation/Q&A session for more information. All while your son meets his future den mates while playing games.
