For complete information go to the calendar event.
If your Scout is NOT planning on creating a car, please notify your Den Leader. Younger Scouts may enjoy watching the advancement of the Webelos II to Boy Scouting and Boy Scout Troop 149 is expected to be selling food at the event as a fundraiser.
Our Webelos II scouts will be leaving the Pack and many will be Bridging to local Boy Scout troops. It is a good time to talk to representatives of the different troops and learn more about scouting.

Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a “birthday party” called the blue and gold banquet. The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is for the scouting families to celebrate the pack’s anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents.
We will hold our annual B&G banquet at our February pack meeting next Thursday. We will have the Arrow of Light ceremony for those Webelos who have completed this achievement that prepares them for Boy Scouts.

Pack 991 Cub Scouts have the opportunity to serve our Veterans dinner at the Elks Club this Wednesday. If your scout would like to participate then please rsvp to Fred Livingston. The vets will arrive at 5:30, get seated and we serve them appetizers, salad, steak and dessert. The cubs and adult helpers will eat after the Veterans are served. This is a great opportunity to serve the community. Scouts and their family who participate get to meet and talk with our vets as they serve them dinner, and earn a great steak dinner for themselves! Full uniform is required. (no holes in jeans or pants). To sign up you can also visit our Serve the Vets page.
This Sunday we will meet at 9am at Kennedy Middle school to distribute door hangers for our Scouting for Food project.
This is a great project for all ages – and a great way for parents to get to know other parents in the Pack as they walk around the neighborhoods placing door hangers on doors (the kids DO NOT knock on doors). We are in a new FLAT neighborhood in Woodside Plaza (which is especially great as we have a new Tiger Den that is half Henry Ford kids).
We have several routes and we’ll distribute the maps when we arrive. Make sure to check-in so that your son gets credit and his participation patch.
If a Den is interested in doing the Roy Cloud area, please contact Cami.
The following weekend we will then collect food that is left out for us.
Come to Hillsdale Mall this Saturday to watch Pack 991’s 10 entries race in the Redwood District’s Pinewood Derby district finals! They will race on an official track in the mall’s center court. We had another great Pinewood Derby thanks to all the PWD volunteers, and the Boy Scouts that helped make it a memorable by catering the event and setting up the monkey bridge for our Webelo II bridging. We had a record 65 entries in the race. Congratulations to Joshua Tinker, Andrew Dodson, and Matthew Nave for 1st, 2nd and 3rdplace. This is the second year in a row for Joshua to place in the top three! The fastest 10 cars in the regular race qualify for the District Finals on April 13th, which will be held from Noon to 3pm at Hillsdale Mall Center Court.
The top ten finishers in the regulation race are:
||I Don’t Know
||I Can’t Make Up My Mind
Finally the overall results by rank so you can see how your car performed. It’s time to start thinking how to make a winning car next year. » Read more
We hope all our scouts are working on their Pinewood Derby cars. We will have two check-in dates. Please drop off your car at one of the check-ins. The cars will be held by Pack 991 Pinewood Derby Coordinators and returned after the race, except those cars that qualify for the District Final event.
Please read the rules to make sure your car meets the basic requirements. There will be some tools to make adjustments to the cars at least at the first check-in.
If you do not have a scale you can take your car to the post office and they are usually happy to weigh it for you. The check-in times are March 9 and March 16 from 9am to noon. Locations will be at two of our member homes and will be sent to you by email.
The Scout Store at the Foster City Scout Office has a track available for test-runs on Saturdays!
More workshops have been added exclusively for Redwood District packs. Please pass along to your pack families and encourage them to bring along Cub Scout prospects. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Palo Alto has many slots open (no signups yet for this Sunday)

Did you know we have a Lost and Found? With more than 60 boys at our pack meetings it is inevitable that things get misplaced, accidentally picked up by someone else, or left behind. You can reduce the potential frustration and make it easier to return items if you mark them where possible with your scouts name.
We will pick up any leftover or returned items we find, and post them on our Lost and Found Page. The link can also be found on the right side of our home page. So if you’re missing something check out the page. Someone left a hooded vest at the last meeting. It would sure make a nice gift to the Coat Drive. If you think it is yours you can find a description of it on the Lost and Found Page. » Read more
Gymboree, size M(7-8) left at November pack meeting.
Pack 991 is collecting clean, gently used coats and jackets as part of the One Warm Coat community service project. Coats of all shapes sizes are welcome. One Warm Coat is dedicated to distributing reusable coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The program is an easy way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets that you no longer need.
Pack 991 has made donating a coat simple. Just bring your clean, gently used coats and jackets to the Holiday Party, Thursday, December 13. All donated coats will be given to the Shelter Network Redwood Family House Program which is committed to providing housing and support services that create opportunities for homeless families and individuals to re-establish self-sufficiency and to return to permanent homes of their own.
Each scout that brings a coat will receive a patch and feel like they are helping someone in need!
Any questions please contact Stephanie Drolapas or Kathi Black.
A great Service Project is approaching, what a wonderful way to teach our Scouts about Citizenship, Doing a Good Turn and Giving back. Family members welcome for our annual Scouting for Food on November 10th & 17th. Scouts in Uniform and family members will be placing flyers asking local residents to set out food the following week for us to collect. We need volunteers for both Saturdays, the 10th and the 17th and you can help at one or both.
On Saturday the 10th we will meet at Roy Cloud School (Red Oak Way entrance). We have two times, 10 am and 1 pm so we can accommodate more of you. We will be passing out flyers in neighborhoods near Roy Cloud. We will meet there again on the 17th at 9 am and collect food from those same neighborhoods. » Read more
Once again all the Scouts in the Pacific Skyline Council, including our very own Pack 991, will serve the community by collecting food for the Second Harvest Food Bank. This service project has a tangible and direct teachable moment for the Scouts. The project is not time consuming and it is simple to explain its lesson during the Thanksgiving week that follows. We are providing food for the less fortunate people here in our own community. It is neat to see and hear the older Scouts explain to the younger Scouts how there are people who need help even with food and how this food will help them.
Mark your calendar, please make an effort to attend with SCOUTS IN UNIFORMS and get your friends and neighbors to donate food. We will be collecting food in the Farm Hill Estates neighborhoods near Roy Cloud but you can ask your neighbors to give as well and bring the food with you on the 17th. » Read more
